Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India. Yoga in Indian traditions, however, is more than physical exercise; it has a meditative and spiritual core.
In any sport or competition, we need a physical parameter as a criterion of assessment and yoga in its various forms of practices is a mind-body exercise which affects the practitioner physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually.
In its modern form, Yoga as a competitive sport, to assess the participant for scoring we should consider only the physical aspect of yoga. As one can never evaluate the mental, emotional and spiritual aspect of a participant in any sport.
